| Andrea Esterhazy in La salamandra (1981):
Alias: Bondy Esterhazy
Andrea Esterhazy is a very interesting actor who shows up in many films. He was not always a "generico" because he sometimes played "big" credited roles but the many of his roles are the typical small uncredited roles. Active from the early 1950s to sometime in the 1980s (maybe longer), I notice that many of the films he appeared in are American productions filmed in Italy. It's possilbe that he was hired because they needed actors who could speak good English. In Roman Holiday (1953) he is credited as "Count Andrea Esterhazy", which indicates that he was perhaps a nobleman?

| Hi Johan! I am now very happy because this time i can finally another time give you informations, because you click the following site, sit down!
i found it now, because i searched it for you:
A little present for the many pics, which you sent me allways. Unfortunatelly i don't have more time to watch films.... so i don't have often news for you and the other people here...
PS: András is the hungarian name for Andrea / Andreas and Bratislava was the first capital from Hungary and this town was in 1913 still a part of Hungary!
PPS: Do you have Il treno per Istambul?
|Posted by: Johan Melle December 14, 2008 04:56 pm|
| Ooh WOW! Thank you, Tibor! This was a great discovery! Very, very interesting.
I don't have Il treno per Istambul, unfortunately...
@ Emiliano: yes, you are right that he is probably more an actor than a real "generico" because he did play some substantial roles. But some of his other roles are very tiny and in the background without dialogue - for example Cassandra Crossing (1976) where he is seen for maybe 2 seconds as a train passenger near the end of the film. Unfortunately, I am unable to post a pic from this film. And I am sure that there are many more Esterhazy roles yet to be discovered

| Esterhazy in another important film - Visconti's Ludwig (1972). He's not easy to see because in the first picture he is not in focus, and in the second he is far in the background but it is him for certain!

Here is his role in Holocaust 2000 (1977):
